Adding an Assignment in “On”


Instructions below are for teachers to create an assignment in “On” using Google Assignment. Google Assignment is a direct plugin into Google Classroom’s assignment tool that teachers and students can use.  This is a very effective tool when used with Hapara


Note: File submitted through Google Assignment will also show-up in your Google Drive. Similar to Hapara's Teacher Dashbaord, this tool and Google drive are connected.  Look for a folder called “Course Kit” or Google Assignment. 

  1. Go to your course

  2. Choose the Assignments tab

  3. +Assignment (right side)

  4. Complete the assignment form, title, mark total, etc.

  5. There is a little book next to the due date to let you know what the date range is.  

  6. Under Learning Tool, look for Google Assignment. 

  1. Under File Submission, select "No file submission allowed".

  2. Click Save to submit and close your created assignment.

  1. Once created assignments will be labelled as a Google Assignment. If you do not see it, make sure the assignment is active.  Alternatively, you can also change the Date View filter to previous or future.

  1. Click on the assignment, and choose Launch to enter the Google Assignment Tool.

  1. The anatomy of Assignments is below. To allow students to make use of the originality checker, ensure "Check plagiarism (originality)" is turned prior to students submitting work:


  • Rubric tool is handy as it will attach to the student submission. Note: If used, it cannot not be hidden from students.  

  • Students cannot resubmit automatically, however when reviewing student work you can leave a note and choose resubmit by clicking the resubmit button when assessing student work.
